The eight-year-old has yet to win over three miles on the track but he gets the vote to prove himself a top drawer staying chaser in what has been a good race for the English raiders. Imperial Commander has the advantage of coming here off a light three race campaign which has taken in superb victories in the Paddy Power Gold Cup and the Ryanair Chase.

Those performances have marked him down as top performer over the intermediate trip of two-miles five-furlongs and he has given every indication on a number of occasions that this longer distance will be within his grasp. It is worth recalling that he is a former winning point-to-pointer and there have been legitimate excuses for his defeats on the two previous occasions that he has tackled three miles or further over fences.

This will only be his second time on a right handed course and he does have stamina queries to answer but he is well worth taking a chance on.
