You will need the most up to date and accurate information possible about the horses and the track, becoming aware of any variable that could change your calculations.

Most important is sticking with your picks and betting system, no matter what the crowd is doing. Remember that you are the professional there, and everyone should be following your lead, instead of you following theirs. Too many times have I seen someone changing their mind and then feeling terrible when their original pick wins. Consistency and discipline is needed, if you are to win more frequently and limit your losses.
